Thomas J. Guzzardi, DDS

Dr. Guzzardi

Meet Dr. Guzzardi

For me, dentistry is the meeting of beauty and function, and is creatively rewarding and intellectually challenging all at the same time. I love the fact that dental treatment is curative. I can confidently address and solve dental health problems predictably, and fully restore dental health, function, aesthetics, and confidence for my patients. My profession is in many ways my life. It is my calling; that which I am internally driven to do. It is a service to others and so gives meaning to each and every day. I am passionate about personal integrity, adherence to principle, and soundness of character.

Education and Continuing Education

32 years ago, I completed my formal dental schooling, but my education certainly did not stop there! Lifelong learning is an integral aspect of any profession, and when it comes to dentistry, it is even more applicable. Technology and treatments advance at a rapid pace, and I am dedicated to providing my patients with the newest, most up-to-date care. I take numerous courses every year with an emphasis on dental materials and methods, including Nobel Biocare’s Mini-Residency on advanced education in implant dentistry.

Outside the Office

I grew up in Wheaton, IL and graduated from Wheaton North High School. I have proudly spent the past 32 years as a resident of Aurora with my wife, Holly. We have two adult daughters, Anne, a chemical engineer, and Julie who is currently studying medicine. I spend a good amount of time working out, bicycling, and playing golf. I like to tinker in the garden, attend art shows, and love to travel. I am also an avid bridge player – I probably play over 2000 hands of bridge a year!

In the Community

Dr. Guzzardi and family

I have been a member of the Rotary Club of Aurora since 1983, becoming President of the Aurora Rotary Club for the second time beginning in July of 2012, and have been very active in the many charitable efforts of Rotary in my community and throughout the world. Rotary’s Polio eradication program is within just two countries of completely erasing the virus from the planet. The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation has, in recent years, worked with Rotary International to accomplish this as well.

In my business practices and in my personal life I am committed to The Guiding Principles of Rotary as a blueprint for better relationships and ethical living.

In addition to the rewarding experience of hosting exchange students from Turkey, Denmark, Brazil, and Thailand, my wife and I have also hosted numerous young professionals from Israel, Finland, the Philippines, and Lithuania in our home through Rotary. Rotary is all about achieving world peace through international cooperation and service to humanity.

Peace through service to humanity is an idea that makes a lot of sense to me. To this end, I participated in a medical mission trip to Peru in May of 2012. The mission was a combined initiative of Rotary and the Peruvian American Medical Society. We formed a multi-specialty medical group of which I was the only dentist among 70 medical professionals participating in this mission. This experience was truly life-changing and I look forward to participating in other missions of mercy throughout the world in the years to come.
